Welcome to the Friends of Whitney Young (FoWY) community - a wonderful group of dedicated parents, students, alumni, faculty and staff. Back to School usually means monthly social events and we’re thrilled to be bringing some of these events back to our community this school year. We’re asking the Dolphin Community to support our school through various events and campaigns that FoWY will host throughout the year. “Giving back. Paying forward!” is our slogan and we hope you will join us as we work together for the benefit of all of our children. Monthly FoWY Meetings Second Wednesday of the month 6:30 PM Alternating between the Whitney Young Library and Online Want to get involved or learn more about FoWY? Join us at our monthly meetings and learn about our events and campaigns. Membership is not required because everyone is a friend of Whitney Young! Our first meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 8th at 6:30 PM in the Whitney Young Library. Young Jr. said, "Stretch your mind and fly." That's what being a student here is all about and it's exactly what the Annual Fund supports - whether it's giving students a place to express themselves through art, being resilient as an athlete, finding a place to belong through clubs or challenging students' minds through academics. Creating Community Gatherings have looked different the past year but FoWY is still committed to building a Purposeful Community among its families, one that continues to celebrate and respect the diversity among us. Open House Sunday, October 17, 2021 Always a well-attended event where record numbers of prospective students and parents come to visit Whitney Young High School. This year may be a little different and we could use your help as we showcase our outstanding school! Look for more information in the Weekly in the upcoming month  Spring Bash Saturday, April 2, 2022 6:00 PM Venue West Our biggest social event and fundraiser of the year takes place at beautiful Venue West and we look forward to spending the evening together this year after two years of being virtual. FoWY Socials Hosted by various members of our community, FoWY will be hosting informal, casual, smaller, social gatherings at establishments throughout the city.
