Welcome to FoWY — FALL 2023

Welcome to the Friends of Whitney Young (FoWY) community! We are a dedicated group of parents, students, alumni, faculty, and staff working for the  betterment of Whitney Young High School.

We are officially in Back to School mode, which means we’ll be hosting monthly get-togethers and social events for Whitney Young parents and guardians. We’re thrilled to bring some of these events throughout the Chicago area and support our school through various events and campaigns.
 
“Giving back. Paying forward!” is our slogan, and we hope you will join us as we work together for the benefit of all of our children.

Fall Gathering

Come out for some delicious food, good conversation, and great camaraderie at our first adult social of the year! Catch up with other Whitney Young parents and guardians, and meet new ones in a casual and fun atmosphere. FoWY is providing FREE appetizers and bites, and adult beverages are available for purchase, too.

The Annual Fund

We are excited to launch the 2023-24 Annual Fund as we continue to DREAM BIG for our Dolphins. The Annual Fund is Friends of Whitney Young’s largest fundraising campaign, and it provides financial support through our twice-yearly Grant Request Program to fund Whitney Young’s clubs, athletic teams, and academic departments. Stay tuned for the launch as we explore new ways to give — help us DREAM BIG for our kids!

Creating Community and Volunteering Time

FoWY is committed to building a purposeful community among our families — a community that continues to celebrate and respect the diversity among us. We want everyone to feel welcome and valuable to our school’s future when we interact. If you have ideas to share or time to give as we launch communication efforts within our community, we would love to hear from you! Neighborhood Socials

Hosted by various members of our community, FoWY will be coordinating casual social gatherings at establishments throughout the city. These events are meant to extend our outreach to different corners of the city where our Dolphin parents reside. This year, we’ve got events planned for:
