Friends of Whitney Young (FoWY) exists to support the students, families, faculty, and administration of Whitney M. Young Magnet High School, in keeping with the mission set forth in our Bylaws. As a parent-led 501(c)(3) organization, we are committed to strengthening the Whitney Young community through fundraising, engagement, and advocacy that directly benefit our current students and the staff who serve them.
In light of recent CPS budget cuts that threaten teacher and administrative staffing, FoWY has sharpened its focus to prioritize funding that helps preserve and support these critical positions. We believe that a fully staffed, well-supported faculty and administration is foundational to the education and experience our students deserve, and we are dedicated to ensuring that our fundraising efforts respond directly to this urgent need.
Now more than ever, FoWY remains steadfast in our commitment: every dollar raised is intended solely for the benefit of the current Whitney Young community — its students, faculty, and administration — so that our school continues to thrive despite funding challenges.
